University of Ferrara at the Mix House XXV Aprile

On Tuesday, 2 December, around twenty students from the Final Synthesis Laboratory of the Department of Architecture at the University of Ferrara visited the Mix House XXV Aprile in Parma, accompanied by Prof. Roberto Di Giulio, Prof. Marta Calzolari and researcher and lecturer Laura Sacchetti.

The visit took place in the space intended for the future gym on the building’s ground floor, completed in October, ahead of schedule under the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan). This result was made possible by the synergy between all those involved and the level of detail in the design, which allowed Impresa Allodi, which celebrates 120 years of activity in 2025 and has recently become a Benefit Corporation, to obtain recognition for the speed and quality of its execution.

The introduction was given by representatives of the Municipality of Parma, the construction manager Sara Malori (Parma Infrastrutture S.p.A.) and the engineer Daniela Allodi (Impresa Allodi). Architect Sergio Beccarelli and engineer Paolo Corchia spoke on behalf of Policreo. The students explored the genesis of the project, which recomposes an urban block, transforming it into a “Mosaic of Solidarity Living”: an integrated system of services and residences dedicated to the community.

The Mix House was designed to promote cohabitation among different generations and categories, ensuring high-quality living spaces for the elderly, young families, and students.

Policreo, as the project leader, illustrated the design process, which began with an analysis of requirements and culminated in a clear, feasible architectural plan. As explained by Daniela Allodi and Sara Malori, the precision of the designs and the excellent daily collaboration made it possible to construct the building without any significant changes to the initial project. The future management of the property will be entrusted to a social coordinator.

During the visit, the students were able to explore the different types of housing (60 units), the common areas and the green spaces, experiencing first-hand an innovative model of social and public architecture in Italy.
