The design for the new Bolzano Library Center, located within the “Pascoli-Longon” school complex, serves as a model of functionally flexible and innovative architecture, capable of integrating the latest technologies while respecting the existing urban context. The project is not only a construction challenge but also the creation of an “active social structure” dedicated to research, education, and multicultural exchange. The project stands out for its use of cutting-edge architectural solutions, such as the “dynamic double-skin” façade—transparent and lightweight—which ensures excellent thermal and acoustic performance, and a striking full-height central atrium that floods the spaces with natural light. From environmental sustainability—certified to high Casaclima standards—to the use of BIM methodology for managing the project’s entire life cycle, every detail reflects an informed and responsible design philosophy.
